Jonathan Small serves as the President of the Oklahoma Council of Public Affairs (OCPA). Previously, Jonathan served as a budget analyst for the Oklahoma Office of State Finance, as a fiscal policy analyst and research analyst for the Oklahoma House of Representatives, and as director of government affairs for the Oklahoma Insurance Department. Jonathan holds a B.A. in Accounting from the University of Central Oklahoma and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Fox News reported on Friday that former Cincinnati Reds shortstop and National League All-Star, Zack Cozart, has been told his legacy was “tarnished” by his opposition to sex-change operations for minors and his criticism of biological male athletes competing in women’s sports. While some media outlets have portrayed his beliefs as “conservative,” Cozart’s perspective simply represents what used to equate to common sense and decency in this country. Refreshingly, the former professional athlete’s response to the notion that his reputation has taken a hit because of his views has simply been to say, “then so be it.”

It is important for conservatives to remember when faced with woke attacks from legacy media interests, that their beliefs do not represent the values of a majority of Americans. Pew Research Center, for example, released a poll this year which found that two-thirds of Americans support laws that “[r]equire trans athletes to compete on teams that match their sex assigned at birth” (66%) and that a majority support laws that “ban health care professionals from providing care related to gender transitions for minors” (56%).

This issue provides evidence that if we, as conservative Americans, stay strong and hold fast to our convictions, we can make common sense, common once again.

Vance Slams SNAP Court Order

Vice President JD Vance commented on a federal court ruling that rejected the Trump administration’s plan to provide partial payments without tapping additional funds, saying, “What we’d like to do is for the Democrats to open up the government of course, then we can fund SNAP and we can also do a lot of other good things for the American people… But in the midst of a shutdown we can’t have a federal court telling the president how he has to triage the situation.”
